Nathan Sykes is an East Tennessee Native who has long been involved in Traditional Music in the Region. Born into a musical family, Nathan began playing guitar and banjo at the age of 12 and has dedicated himself to researching and helping preserve the region’s musical heritage.
Nathan received a BA in History and, using his knowledge of history and our region’s musical heritage, began working at Radio Bristol as intern in the summer of 2016. Nathan is currently a first-year graduate student at East Tennessee State University pursuing an MA in Appalachian Studies. Nathan is still employed as a production assistant at Radio Bristol, where he hosts “The Crooked Road Radio Hour.” Produced in conjunction with Southwest Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, The Crooked Road, this program allows Nathan to pursue his passion for helping regional artists, both historical and contemporary, to receive the recognition they deserve for their contributions to Country Music History.
